Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, All!

Please, please remind me next year not to go near shopping places on Black Friday. I'm not so sure that fighting 20 people in the wee hours of the morning, and waiting 2 hours at the check out line is worth the $50 savings... Well... but then again, it is an extra $50 I could spend somewhere else... but... nahh... I don't think I'll be shopping those black Friday deals again next year.

By the way, I did see a really cute bm dress at BCBG on sale for under $80, plus there were other discounts too. Too bad the line was SO long! Here is a picture of one of the dress I liked:

Bridesmaid Dresses

Two months ago, my 2 bm and I planned to spend Nov 22nd at the downtown LA's very own Fashion District to shop for wedding-related stuff.

Things we intended to buy: veil, petticoat, bolero/wedding jacket, and bridesmaid dress.
Things we ended up buying: cute bag, sunglasses (4 of 'em), cute rings featured in the Lucky mag this month, and a bottle of perfume.

Mission aborted...

Oh well... the things that we bought were total bargains anyway, so I wasn't totally disappointed. I was more disappointed to find that the color "coral" at Alfred Angelo's website is so different than the actual color on the dresses. Now I really don't know what to do and more importantly where to look for the bm dresses. Back to square 1, I guess.

Why oh why... is it so hard to find the perfect pink? ;)

Engagement Fever

OMG... this week alone, I found out that 4 of my friends are recently engaged! Wow... Love is truly in the air :)

Well, I went to an Engaged Encounter retreat last week, and the presenting couples (and a priest) gave us pointers about how to make a relationship work. How to resolve differences in our relationship, and most important of all how to be life giving to your partner. Life giving means.... giving life to your partner (literally) by building each other up to be the best person each other can be. Many of the sessions requires us to write down our feelings about different topics on our own for 20 minutes, and then spend another 20 minutes comparing our answers with the fiance. It was an eye opening experience to me. Some things that my fiance wrote are exactly the same with what I wrote, but some things are totally different, so it was really good to see his point of view on different things. At the end of the retreat, I had learned so much about myself, my fiance, and our relationship together... I left the retreat place feeling so loved, so sure, and now I can hardly wait to be his wife. Corny? I know :) but that's exactly how I feel.

Inspiration Board

I usually go to snippetandink.blogspot.com for inspiration, but sometimes when I'm feeling especially creative, I try to do my own board. It's fun! Here's a messy board that I did in the past using polyvore.com

Unfortunately I can't remember where I got these images from.. all I know is that I created this board using the images provided by polyvore...

Polyvore is great to toy around with wedding ideas, from centerpieces, bridesmaid dresses, or even just to plan your outfits for next week ;)

Wedding Cake

I went to Little Saigon last Sunday, and found this place that sells really delicious cream puffs. It's such a great deal at 4 piece per dollar, so imagine getting these cream puffs, and creating them into a tastefully decorated croquembouche :)

Cool....

Pink

I Love, lOve, loVe, lovE, LOVE pink. I'm doing a coral pink and gold color theme for my Vintage Broadway wedding. As I look for the bridesmaid dresses, I realize more and more how difficult it is to find the right shade of pink that I want.

The pink I have in mind is this coral pink definition in wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral_(color)
(see the third color from the top)

Anyway, I am going to the downtown LA Fashion District next week. Hopefully I can find nice bridesmaid dresses that's the right shade of pink. Something along this line would be great:

Wedding Planning

It's not easy planning a wedding in the midst of all the economic worries. With the unemployment rate at 14 years high, I am getting cold feet about everything. Will the economy be better or worse come June next year? With all these things in mind, I am really, really trying to stay within my budget, and so far we've spent about 50% of it on the photographer, venues, and ceremony-related stuff. Food, alcohol, flowers, and DJ are probably going to be the next biggest expenditures. O.M.G. How am I going to pull this off? With lots of prayers and diligent hard work, I suppose. I'm still optimistic though. I am doing a lot of DIY things for the decor, so that should help somewhat :)

Anyway, we have decided to do a buffet style dinners. We're inviting between 150-200 guests, so that will be about 25 tables. Since we are doing a Vintage Broadway theme, we're numbering the tables with our favourite Broadway Plays:

The Phantom of The Opera
Mamma Mia
Cats
A Chorus Line
Wicked
Beauty And The Beast
Rent
Chicago
The Lion King
42nd Street
My Fair Lady
Hairspray
The Producers
Annie
Aida
Evita
Dreamgirls
The Sound Of Music
The King and I
Jersey Boys
Kiss Me, Kate
Carousel
Le Miserables
Miss Saigon
Grease

I'm not sure whether I should name the tables "Le Miserables" or "Wicked".... but I really liked these musicals, so.... we'll see :)

Transportation

It's Sunday night. 8:30pm. I just finished watching my favourite show on HBO: The Entourage :) So I'm browsing around for unique ideas to transport me and my bridal party from our ceremony venue in Anaheim to our reception venue in San Juan Capistrano. Here's a cool idea I might just say "I do" to:

http://www.theshortbusla.com/thebus.htm

Once a functioning small school bus, The Short Bus has been customized with top notch electronics and accessories and restored to satisfy the affluent adult. Amenities in The Short Bus include such luxuries as:

  • 40 Inch High Definition LCD TV

  • CD and DVD Players

  • XM Satellite Radio and IPod Music Link

  • Fully Functional Bar and Beverage Ice Wells (Alcoholic beverages not included)

  • Professional Driver with GPS Satellite Navigation System

First Post!

I can't believe it! It's been 3 months since Mr. B (coincidentally, his name also starts with the letter B) got down on his knees and proposed on top of the hill, under a sea of stars.

I've been neck deep in planning every tiny little details of the dream wedding ever since. There so many things to do, so many things that I dream of, and yet so little time to do everything. Being the undecided person that I am, it's tough to make decisions about anything. The fact that I want too many things doesn't help either!

Anyway, I already have a lot of things accomplished, thanks to Mr. B and my family friends' help throughout the planning process. Let's see... I've got both the ceremony and reception venues booked, photographers, officiant, theme, and most importantly: -the- DRESS! I think it's gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. There's no other word to describe it. Just thinking of the dress makes me giddy already.

What was I saying just now? Well, the planning part. Yes, so now I'm focusing on the caterer. Hopefully I can get this part done by the end of next week so I can move on to other things like DJ, videographer, flowers (ugh, I hate this part!), invitations, etc.

Speaking of invitation, I have to really thank God for my sister & her friend who are helping me out in this category. Her very talented friend, Juli, is helping us creating all the stationary for the wedding. At first I thought I wanted something that looked victorian and romantic. You know, something that you might see during Marie Antoinette era. Now, we're switching to Vintage Broadway theme, so it will be really interesting to see how Juli can transform my wedding invitations in that direction.

Why Vintage Broadway, you ask? Well, I always love all things vintage, and Broadway is my second true love, next to Mr. B :). When we first started dating, it seems that theatre, musicals, ballet, even movies and operas are bringing us closer together. Broadway is a perfect combination of our passion, and it's our favourite past time together. Perhaps it is a complicated and a little difficult theme to accomplish, but we shall see. Uuuu... I'm so excited!!! I'll post some pictures as soon as I get the drafts of the invitations.
